Fishing Report - September 2011

The larger flounder are starting to come in to jetties and up Winyah Bay. We caught 8 on a trip last week and 6 were keepers. Some trout are showing up. They are still on the small side. Out of catch of 15 we had 7 keepers. DNR has asked that we release all the females so we can have a quicker recovery from the fish kill that happened last winter. The red drum are (channel bass; bull reds) are starting show up in the surf. It. won't be long before they will be up the bay. There are still a lot of tarpon around that should be good until the middle of September. There is plenty of mullet, menhaden, and shrimp in the bay.
It's hard to catch fish setting at home thinking and talking about it. Give me a call.
